A Good Halloween Scare - The Broken Doll

Halloween will soon be here. It's one of my favorite times of the year so excuse me while I indulge myself. For the next month, please take a tour with me through a flavor of horror that will make you think twice about what's over your shoulder or at least make you remember what fragile creatures we all are. After all, we all need a good scare, now and then. Don't you agree? Happy Halloween.

The Broken Doll

When I was nine years old, my family went to the movie theater and saw the coming attraction for the 1962 horror flick, "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane," starring Betty Davis and Joan Crawford. The broken-headed doll used in the advertisement scared me for many sleepless nights. The promoters panned closer as the narrator spoke of how suspenseful and macabre the film would be. I tried to turn away, but this realistic image seared itself into my mind. Did anyone else experience this? ​
